Honor Guard Mission

The March ARB Honor Guard provides Military Funeral Honors for Active Duty, Retirees, and Veterans who served honorably in the United States Air Force. We are a Total Force Honor Guard, comprised of Active Duty, Reservists and Guardsmen. Our primary mission is to support Edwards Air Force Base and their area of responsibility that spans 54,000 miles throughout Southern California

Military Funeral Honors Categories

ADFS consists of twenty Ceremonial Guardsmen and includes: 1 Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, 6 Pall bearers, 1 Noncommissioned Officer Firing Party, 7 member Firing Party, 4 member Color Guard and 1 Bugler. This sequence includes rifle volleys, playing of Taps and folding of the interment flag. Interment flag and shadow boxes will be presented to the PADD, spouse, children and parents if married. If parents are divorced or legally separated they will each receive a flag and shadow box.

Standard Honors Funeral Sequence – Reserved for Air Force Retirees, Active Reservists and Active Guardsmen. SHFS consists of either four, five or seven Ceremonial Guardsmen.  This sequence includes rifle volleys, playing of Taps, folding of the interment flag and presentation of the flag to the Next of Kin.

**Note** the number of Ceremonial Guardsmen provided is based off manning availability. Standard Honors Funeral Sequences may be fulfilled with two ceremonial guardsmen, complying with Title 10 law.

Title 10, Section 1491, USC stipulates that Military Funeral Honors will consist of two or more persons; this is also cited in DODI 1300.15, Military Funeral Support. At least two members of the funeral honors detail will be members of the armed services (other than members in a retired status) at least one of whom will be a member of the military service of which the decedent was a member.

**Note** We do not supply the interment flag.

Minimum Funeral Honors – Reserved for Air Force Veterans but may also be utilized for Air Force Retirees, Active Reservists and Active Guardsmen, depending on manning. MFH consist of either two or three Ceremonial Guardsmen. This sequence includes the playing of Taps, folding of the interment flag and presentation of the flag to the Next of Kin.

**Note** We do not supply the interment flag.
